Accra, Nov.25, GNA – The Ghana Police Service has arrested the man seen in a viral video administering a substance suspected to be cigarette to a child (girl).
The suspect, Samuel Obeng Acheampong, was arrested on Saturday, November 22, through intelligence-led operation.
A release issued by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the Criminal Investigation Department, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Monday, said the suspect admitted the offence.
During interrogation, he indicated that the incident occurred about five years ago.
“The suspect is in custody, assisting the investigation, and will be put before court,” the release said.
The Police Service remained committed to ensuring the safety of children and would like to caution the public against acts that exposed children to harm, the release said.
It noted that perpetrators would be pursued and arrested to face the full rigours of the law.
