Kumasi, Aug. 14, GNA – Alhaji Saalim M. Bamba, Ashanti Regional Nasara Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), is seeking to transform the party’s Nasara Wing into a stronger grassroots mobilisation force to advance Zongo interests and boost its electoral fortunes ahead of the 2028 election.
At the centre of his vision is the development of the human resource capacity of the Nasara Wing and the provision of adequate support and resources to enable its members to undertake effective grassroots mobilisation.
Alhaji Bamba, in his declaration of intent to contest the National Nasara Organiser (NNO) position, said a re-energised and well-resourced Nasara Wing would be better positioned to engage communities, influence political discourse and advance the interests of the Zongo population.
He said his decision to seek the position followed extensive consultations within the party and deep introspection following the NPP’s presidential primary held on January 31, 2026.
“If elected as NNO, I pledge to be an advocate for the Zongo people and to protect their interest,” he stated.
He said his administration would undertake year-round activities in Zongo communities to engage residents beyond election periods and shape their political views and understanding of the party’s policies and programmes.
According to him, sustained community engagement would be critical to rebuilding confidence, strengthening relationships and creating a more responsive Nasara Wing capable of effective grassroots mobilisation.
Another major plank of his vision, he said, would be to implement targeted political initiatives aimed at securing at least 50 per cent of Zongo votes for the NPP in the 2028 presidential election.
He said achieving that objective would require a deliberate strategy combining grassroots mobilisation, sustained engagement, political education and collaboration with stakeholders within Zongo communities.
Alhaji Bamba also pledged to build bridges with key Zongo community stakeholders to promote dialogue and create stronger partnerships between the party and the communities it sought to serve.
He said the Nasara Wing should not only serve as an electoral mobilisation structure but also become an effective platform for articulating the concerns and aspirations of Zongo communities and advocating their interests within the party.
The Ashanti Regional Nasara Organiser said his nearly two decades of involvement in party activities and about 15 years of holding party offices had given him considerable experience in grassroots organisation and political mobilisation.
He cited his service as a Polling Station Chairman from 2009 to 2018, Head of the Social Media Communications Team for Ejura/Sekyedumase from 2014 to 2018, Ashanti Regional Nasara Coordinator from 2018 to 2022 and Ashanti Regional Nasara Organiser from 2022 to 2026.
He has also served on various regional and national campaign, communications, registration and election committees, as well as represented the party at international youth and Nasara-related conferences.
Alhaji Bamba said that experience had strengthened his conviction that the Nasara Wing required a renewed emphasis on capacity building, sustained grassroots engagement and strategic mobilisation.
“Essentially, with Bamba as the NNO, the Nasara Wing will be the vehicle to win the 2028 election to the admiration of all,” he said.
He therefore appealed to party delegates and stakeholders to support his candidature, saying his objective was to build a stronger, more organised and better-resourced Nasara Wing capable of making a significant contribution to the NPP’s electoral fortunes in 2028.
