Accra, Nov. 26, GNA – The German Development Cooperation, in partnership with Innohub Foundation, has concluded the Ghana SME Impact Investment Support (GSIIS) Project.
The two-year initiative is designed to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and create decent jobs in the country.
The project, which ended with a closing event in Accra on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 provided targeted technical assistance to more than 20 SMEs across diverse sectors, combining nearly €3 million in private capital from impact investors with tailored pre and post investment support.
Ms. Eunice A. Agyepong, Head of the SME Component of Invest for Jobs at German Development Cooperation Ghana, said: “The GSIIS project has demonstrated the power of combining financial investment with technical assistance,” adding: “This dual approach has ensured that the supported SMEs are well-prepared to thrive and contribute positively to Ghana’s economy.”
Officials said the intervention helped in addressing Ghana’s estimated SME financing gap of USD 4.8 billion, which limits growth and job creation in a sector that accounts for over 80 per cent of businesses in the country.
The initiative delivered support in areas such as marketing, e-commerce, financial management, human resources, process optimization, resource efficiency, and health and safety, equipping SMEs with tools to scale sustainably.
Mr. Nelson Amo, Executive Director of Innohub, noted: “When development partners, investors, and business support organisations work together, we can build high-growth, investment-ready businesses that drive meaningful economic transformation.”
The GSIIS project forms part of the Special Initiative “Decent Work for a Just Transition”, operating under the Invest for Jobs brand, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by German Development Cooperation and KfW.
The initiative supports companies in creating good jobs and improving working conditions in eight African partner countries.
