Accra, Nov. 17, GNA – Dr Abu Zein, Senior Deputy Chair, International Human Rights Commission (IHRC), has expressed the Commission’s readiness to working with the office of the National Chief Imam to promote human rights at the national and international levels.
During a visit to the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu at his residence in Accra, he emphasised the Commission’s quest to ensure peaceful coexistence and brotherliness among all religions and societies for global development.
A release copied to Ghana News Agency on Monday said the visit was to pay respect and seek the blessings of the National Chief Imam.
“During the meeting, Ambassador Dr Abu Zein discussed matters of business development interest and issues of national importance, touching on community development and social issues while the Chief Imam offered valuable insights and guidance,” it said.
Dr Zein expressed gratitude to Sheikh Sharubutu for his tremendous contributions to national development, Islamic leadership, and advancing human rights.
In April 2023, Dr Zein supported Ramadan with $10,000, and donated hundred bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil and cartons of tomato paste.
The gesture formed part of the IHRC Corporate Social Responsibility.
At the time, Dr Zein was on a three-day working visit to Ghana ahead of the Seventh World Summit on Human Rights, held in Geneva, Switzerland.
