Tarkwa (W/R), Oct 2, GNA-The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested one person in connection with a violent clash that resulted in the death of Emmanuel Cudjoe, 23, at Simpa, near Simpa Sawmill, in the Nsuaem District.
The suspect, Daniel Cudjoe alias Kwame Ato Asare, 25, is the brother of the deceased.
The Regional Police Command said this in a press statement, signed by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Beatrice Turkson, Head, Public Affairs Unit and copied to the Ghana News Agency.
The statement said on Sunday September 28, 2025, the police received a distress call that there was an armed clash between two opposing groups, and one of the groups was led by the suspect, while the other from Dadwen, was led by Alhassan and Abolo, all suspects, but currently at large.
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspect together with the deceased and ten others also on the run confronted the group from Dadwen after receiving information that they had destroyed his equipment at a mining site.
According to the statement, the confrontation turned violent, with gunfire exchange, led to the death of Emmanuel.
It added that exhibits retrieved from the scene included: two pump action guns, three machetes, four motorbikes, one tricycle and regalia.
The Regional Police Command has assured the public that investigations were ongoing to apprehend all individuals involved to face justice.
