Kumasi, May 28, GNA – Dr Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, has stated that for any government to deliver meaningful development, it must be anchored on sacrifice, unity, discipline, honesty and compassion.

He emphasised that these national values should not remain abstract ideals but must be reflected in the daily conduct of every citizen, particularly Muslims, to help build a prosperous and peaceful nation.

Dr Amoakohene made the remarks during Eid al-Adha celebrations at the forecourt of the Kumasi Central Mosque on Wednesday.

Eid al-Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience and unwavering trust in Allah, and the festival is observed with prayers and the sacrificial slaughter of animals, after which the meat is shared among family, friends and the less privileged.

He further observed that government recognises the vital role religious institutions play in strengthening national cohesion and fostering responsible citizenship.

In this regard, he pledged continued engagement with Muslims as development partners, adding that the commitment to peace, education, entrepreneurship, morality and social harmony had remained central to national progress.

Highlighting Prophet Ibrahim’s example, Dr Amoakohene said the Prophet’s steadfast devotion and readiness to submit fully to the will of Allah offer enduring lessons to humanity.

According to him, the values embodied in the Prophet’s life teach sacrifice for a higher purpose, resilience during challenging times, and complete reliance on God.

The Regional Minister added that the world is presently confronting economic strain, social divisions and rising uncertainty, and therefore called for unity among citizens.

He noted that the spirit of Eid promotes care for the vulnerable, support for the needy, and kindness towards neighbours.

Dr Amoakohene urged the public to remember the poor, widows, orphans and all persons facing hardship, while encouraging the youth to remain hopeful, disciplined and focused.

He stressed that the nation’s future depends on their energy, innovation, and patriotism.

He expressed appreciation to Muslims for their continued support to the government over the past one and half years and appealed for sustained collaboration moving forward.
