Accra, Oct. 14, GNA- A Madina District Court has discontinued the trial of Daniel Owusu Koranteng, the man held for his alleged involvement in the murder of Ahmed Suale, an investigative journalist with Tiger Eye P.I., six years ago.
The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Nana Afua Bamfoa Bamfo, informed the court that the police had been directed to discontinue the matter based on the Attorney General’s advice.
The Ghana News Agency gathered that analysis by the AG of the police docket in relation to the records purportedly implicating Koranteng were inconclusive and same did not link him to the alleged crime committed.
Again, there was no semblance in relation to sketches of the police witnesses, hence the police have been advised to investigate the two alleged culprits who attacked Suale.
Koranteng has, therefore, been discharged by the court.
He was represented by Mr Frederick Gura Sampson and Emma Jean Markin.
Koranteng is said to have had close relations with Suale and his family before his death.
In June 2018, NET2 Television, owned by Mr Kennedy Agyapong, former member of Parliament, broadcasted images of Ahmed Suale when the MP allegedly called for retribution against the investigative journalist.
Suale later identified Koranteng as the person who provided Mr Agyapong with his photograph and confronted him through WhatsApp Chat.
On January 16, 2019, following publication of those images, he was shot and killed.
Following the incident, Koranteng fled to the United Kingdom and upon his return, was arrested at Amasaman on March 15, 2025 based on intelligence.
He is alleged to have admitted his relationship with Mr Agyapong and admitted having visited his residence.
He also admitted, allegedly, to having taken photographs of himself and Suale but denied selling them to anyone.
