Fijai (W/R), Oct. 28, GNA – The Fire Service Ladies Association (FISLA), a wing of the Western Regional Command, Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), has marked its 30 years anniversary with a breast cancer awareness campaign.

It also organised a free screening exercise at its Headquarters at Fijai in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

The event was held on the theme: “From spark to flames, tracing the growth and progress of FISLA over the past 30 years.”

Nurses from the Fijai Catholic Hospital educated FISLA members, Fire Assistants, and other participants on breast cancer signs, symptoms, preventive measures, and self-examination techniques.

At the end of the education, about 70 personnel underwent screening for cancer.

Divisional Officer (DO) II Dorcas Dadzie, FISLA President, speaking during the event urged women to be courageous and build resilience in male-dominated fields to propel the growth of the country.

Meanwhile, as part of the celebration, the Association also organised some fun games like ludu, cards, “oware”, musical chairs, dancing competition, and volleyball with the Prisons Ladies Association.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO) II, David Asah Darko, Western Regional GNFS Commander, commended the FISLA for organising the activities to mark their 30th Anniversary, and asked them to continue working hard and contribute their quota to develop the nation.
