Accra, Oct. 4, GNA – The Ayawaso Central office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has inaugurated Civic Education Clubs in selected basic schools to promote good citizenship, civic responsibility, discipline and active participation in national development.

The formation of the clubs is to encourage students to study the 1992 Constitution and deepen their understanding of democracy and nation-building.

The exercise is in line with the mandate of NCCE to promote civic awareness and responsible citizenship among the youth.

The schools included Redeemer Preparatory School & JHS, Little Roses School, Golden Mission School, New Star Preparatory School and Daddy’s Pride International.

Madam Rhoda Akuetteh, the Municipal Director of the NCCE in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, expressed gratitude to the schools and students for showing interest in forming the clubs, recognizing the platform as an important vehicle for nurturing responsible law- abiding and active citizens.

She encouraged students to actively engage in club activities, which were designed to deepen their understanding of civic duties, promote democratic participation and foster a culture of integrity and discipline.

Madam Akuetteh explained that the formation of the clubs serve as a training ground for leadership, promotes constitutional literacy, instills values of patriotism and strengthens students’ participation in nation-building.

She said the clubs also served as a bridge between the Commission and the youth, ensuring that civic values were internalized at an early age.

“The formation and inauguration of the clubs across schools marked a significant milestone in the Commission’s efforts to instill civic responsibility in the younger generation,” she stated.

Madam Akuetteh expressed satisfaction at the enthusiasm displayed by the students and the cooperation from the schools, adding, “This is a good sign of the sustainability of these clubs.”

She said the Ayawaso Central NCCE remained committed to supporting these clubs to thrive and to ensure that the ideals of civic responsibility and constitutional democracy continue to flourish among the youth.
