Accra, Sept 3, GNA-Staff of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) on Wednesday cleaned up their office environs and the streets of Dzorwulu to rid the community off filth.
The exercise, held with the support of the Bus Stop Boys as part of their welfare week celebration, sort to emphasised the need to promote work in a healthy environment.
It served as an opportunity for the staff to come out in their numbers to socialize, while sweeping the streets, desilting drains, and collect the refuse to promote environmental health and sustainability.
Mr Daniel Oduro Mintah, Secretary of the NPA Staff Welfare Association, said the clean up exercise also aimed to encourage corporate institutions to actively partake in keeping their office surroundings clean.
He said it was not the responsibility of the government or cleaning agencies alone to clean up the community, and called on all workers to help keep their offices and frontages clean.
Mr Mintah urged hawkers on the streets of Dzorwulu to stop loitering the streets while selling and ensure that refuse made during the time of work was properly disposed after work.

Madam Maureen Adowa Duori, a Staff of the NPA, told the GNA that the exercise highlighted the NPA’s commitment to community well-being and environmental responsibility.
She called for a collaboration between corporate institutions and community groups to achieving a-cleaner Ghana.
The NPA Staff Welfare Association, from August 25 to September 1, celebrated its welfare week to encourage staff to mingle and celebrate their collective achievements.
The week-long celebration, organised once a year for about 600 NPA staff across the regions, served as an opportunity for the workers to pause, connect and reflect on their contributions to the organization’s growth.
The NPA was established by an Act of Parliament (NPA Act 2005, ACT 691) to regulate the petroleum downstream industry in Ghana.
As a Regulator, the Authority ensures that the industry remains efficient, profitable, fair, and at the same time, ensures that consumers receive value for money.
