Newly inducted Chief Imam appeals to gov’t to address Atebubu perennial water problem

Atebubu, (Bono East), Sept. 29, GNA – Sheikh Osman Imam Husseim Saani, the newly inducted Atebubu Municipal Chief Imam in the Bono East Region has appealed to the government to address the perennial water problem in the area. 

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on the side-lines of his induction ceremony at Atebubu that the acute water shortage in the area was affecting the lives of the people with some residents sharing streams with stray animals. 

Sheikh Saani succeeded his late father Chief Sheikh Iman Abdul-Barki who died after a short illness. 

The colourful ceremony preceded the final prayers (Adua) for the late Abdul-Barki and attracted people from all walks of life, including chief Imams drawn from the various Districts and Municipalities of, and beyond the region. 

Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Sanja Nanja, the Member of Parliament for Atebubu/Amantin constituency as well as Mr Thomas Masud Ayarba, the /Amantin Municipal Chief Executive attended the event. 

Sheikh Saani pledged the readiness of the Atebubu Zongo communities to support the government to bring the development of the area to the next level. 

He said peace and social cohesion remained a pre-requisite and called for unity and peaceful co-existence between various religious and ethnic sects to strengthen the prevailing peace of the area for development to thrive. 

Sheikh Saani also highlighted the relevance of education towards nation building and urged Muslim families to channel much of their resources into the education of their children.
