Atwima-Agogo (Ash), Aug. 31, GNA – The five – Kilometre Agogo-Maakro urban road in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region, will soon be constructed under President John Dramani Mahama’s 10-Kilometre Asphalted Road for Each District’ initiative.
Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who announced this at the Atwima-Agogo palace, all the necessary engagements and negotiations had been completed for the construction, which was awaiting only financial clearance.
Interacting with the Atwima-Agogo chief and his elders to celebrate the ‘Akwasidae’ with them at the palace, Mr. Boamah reaffirmed his commitment and that of the government towards development for the people.
He said, another community would also get the remaining five-kilometre tarred road within the municipality under the initiative, which had been designed by the President to serve every Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly in the country.
“The government’s commitment and determination to provide the needed infrastructure for the benefit of all residents is on course and therefore, cannot be undermined by anyone, he stressed.
He assured the gathering of his readiness and commitment to work closely with traditional authorities, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen the fight for development in the area since all inclusive, united efforts could lead to accelerated local governance.
“May the bond between our traditional authorities, our people and the Assembly continue to grow stronger for the progress and prosperity of our Municipality”, he added.
Nana Osei Kwame III, Atwima-Agogohene commended the government for the initiative, the MCE for considering the Agogo road and appealed for a quick action towards the construction since its current state affected them economically and socially.
He said the poor condition of the road did not affect only traders, businesses and their owners but also affected education and health particularly, commuting learners, teachers and health workers and therefore, needed quick attention and response to salvage the situation.
He however commended the MCE for being humble, respectful and cooperative with the chiefs in the area.
The MCE later visited the Sepaase palace and interacted with the chiefs, opinion leaders and the people as part of his tour.
The was part of his activities for the celebration of the Akwasidae Festival, a sacred and cherished occasion on the Akan traditional calendar.
