Twedie (Ash), Sept. 02, GNA – Mrs. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma, has donated five packets of roofing sheets to the Yabi community to support the completion of a classroom block at the Atwima Yabi D/A Junior High School (JHS).
The project, initiated by Nana Fosu Anning II, Otumfuo Sikakuahene, in collaboration with Nana Kwame Frimpong Kontomere II, Atwima Yabihene, seeks to construct a 3-unit classroom block to expand learning facilities at the school.
The initiative aims to decongest overcrowded classrooms and create more admission opportunities for children in the community, thereby promoting access to quality formal education.
Speaking during a brief ceremony at the forecourt of the District Assembly, to present the roofing sheets to Nana Fosu Anning II, Mrs. Asamoah commended the traditional leaders for their self-help initiative.
She encouraged them to sustain their collective efforts towards development, stressing that, such collaborations were vital for the progress of the community.
The DCE assured the chiefs and residents that the Assembly would continue to prioritise the needs of the people and urged them to rally behind the government’s developmental agenda, which focused on improving infrastructure and living standards.
She further emphasised that education remained a top priority for the District Assembly and reiterated her commitment to supporting initiatives that enhanced teaching and learning.
According to her, community-led projects made it easier for government and other stakeholders to extend support, compared to situations where communities “fold their arms and wait” for interventions.
Receiving the roofing sheets on behalf of the chiefs, Nana Akwasi Osei Tutu, Otumfuo Sikakuahene Nifahene and a former Assembly Member for Atwima Yabi, expressed profound gratitude to the DCE for her swift response and continuous support to the community.
He also appealed for further assistance from the Assembly to help complete the classroom block and address other developmental needs of the area.
