Adidome (VR), Sept. 02, GNA – Mr Guggisberg Fiagbenu, Assembly Member for the Adidome Central Electoral Area, has reaffirmed his commitment to improving sanitation within the community, stressing the need for collective action to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Fiagbenu said good sanitation was central to community well-being and development and urged residents to actively participate in periodic clean-up exercises to reduce filth and prevent the outbreak of diseases.

He commended the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) for their active involvement, describing their participation as an example of strong community partnership in promoting environmental health.

He announced that another exercise, dubbed “Operation Clean Your Environment,” would be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and encouraged all households, traders, institutions and transport operators in Adidome to join hands in making the exercise a success.

“Sanitation is a shared responsibility. If we all play our part by keeping our surroundings clean, Adidome will remain a healthy and attractive place for everyone,” Mr Fiagbenu stated.

He appealed to residents to sustain the momentum beyond organised clean-up days by adopting proper waste disposal practices, desilting drains regularly, and ensuring their premises remain tidy.

The Assembly Member also assured the public of his continuous advocacy and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure that Adidome becomes a model town in environmental cleanliness within the Central Tongu District.

He added that “landlords whose lands are yet to be developed must be responsible in keeping it clean all the time to avoid residents using it as a hub of open defecation. Sanitation is key to avoiding breeding grounds for mosquitoes and snakes.”
