Sana’a, Sept 22. (dpa/GNA) – Yemen’s government troops and their allies, are continuing their fierce fighting against the Houthis, with airstrikes carried out on the militia’s positions in the Taiz province and the Red Sea port city of Mokha, causing casualties and damage, the government said on Tuesday.
The Houthi-affiliated broadcaster, Al-Masirah, reported that seven people, including two children, were killed, and six others injured in the Saudi airstrikes on Mokha. The broadcaster accused the Saudi-led coalition of attacking residential buildings. The claims could not initially be independently verified.
Al-Masirah also reported Saudi missile attacks in the northern province of Saada, one of the most important strongholds of the Iran-backed Houthi militia.
The conflict in Yemen has flared up again in recent weeks amid the Iran war. Saudi Arabia is fighting alongside the internationally recognized government against the Houthi rebels, and leads a military coalition supporting the government.
Saudi Arabia has also again come under fire from the Houthi militia since the latest escalation.
