Dormaa-Ahenkro, (Bono), Aug. 20, GNA – Mr Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono Region, says the Assembly is setting up a taskforce to enforce sanitation by-laws.
He cautioned the people against littering and indiscriminate waste disposal, warning that offenders would be prosecuted regardless of their social and political relations.
Mr Ameyaw gave the warning when he visited some churches in the municipality to rally the support of the people towards improving sanitation and sensitizing them on road traffic regulation and effects of substance abuse.
He expressed worry that despite the dustbins placed at vantage points, some people still littered the environment, stressing the need to intensify efforts to stem the bad attitude.
Mr Adomah said the Assembly was also working seriously to improve its performance on sanitation management to meet the benchmark set by the government, saying proper sanitation management remained a key performance assessment indicator for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Pastor Isaac Owusu Boansi, the Assistant Pastor of the Jesus Saviour of the World Church, pledged the church’s commitment supporting the clean-up exercises in the municipality.
