Kumasi, Aug 25, GNA – Dr Stephen Amoah, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Nhyiaeso Constituency, has awarded 166 scholarships to tertiary students in his constituency to support their education.
Beneficiary students are from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Education, Winneba, Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, Garden City University College, University of Ghana and University of Cape Coast.
Presenting the cheques to beneficiaries at a short ceremony, Dr Amoah reaffirmed his commitment to assisting brilliant but needy students to pursue their academic dreams, adding that, quality education should be prioritized at all levels.
This, he emphasized, would create a conducive learning environment for students, ensuring they were not distracted by financial difficulties.
The Nhyiaeso MP indicated that developing human resources and skills was his priority for his constituents.
“My main focus is on the human development index, ensuring that we develop the human resource in the constituency.
“Once one has the ability, they can perform any task in this world to survive economically,” he stated.
Dr Amoah explained that the scholarship programme was not limited to supporters of the New Patriotic Party, but was opened to all deserving students, regardless of political affiliation.
He indicated that over 900 students had already benefited from the local scholarships, while 17 students were offered scholarships to pursue various degrees abroad.
The MP advised beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make good use of the opportunities offered them.
