Sekesua, (Eastern), Aug 22, GNA – Ms Helen Dzameshie, the midwife in-charge of the Sekesua Health Centre in the Upper Manya Krobo District of the Eastern Region, has been shortlisted for the 2025 Nursing and Midwifery Excellence and Hall of Fame Awards.
She was shortlisted under the “Deprived Area Category” of the Ministry of Health awards, slated for September 2 to 6 in Tamale, the Northern regional capital for her dedication, passion and commitment to duty.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Sekesua, Ms Dzamesi said she was highly excited, as the award would inspire her to do more and help improve health service delivery outcomes in the area.
She explained that the awards formed part of the Sixth Annual Nursing and Midwifery Leaders and Managers Conference on the theme: “Addressing Public Health Emergency Outbreaks: The Role of Nursing and Midwifery Leaders and Managers.”
Some of the Sekesua residents also told the GNA that the awardee deserved the honour, describing her as hardworking and selfless.
Madam Dede Nuekie, a resident, said: “Madam Helen deserves more than that. Everybody here likes her because of her exceptional human relations and her passion for what she does.”
Sister Maggie, another resident noted that: “Madam Helen’s sacrifices, loving kindness and care for pregnant women, nursing mothers and babies will send her far,” saying, she was well-known for her skills in saving pregnant women and their unborn babies in critical delivery cases.
