Sunyani, (Bono), Aug 22, GNA – The Bono Regional Office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has held a day’s orientation workshop for its newly appointed District and Municipal Coordinators and some key personnel in the region.
Drawn from the 12 politically administrative districts and municipalities in the region, the coordinators were taken through best disaster management practices as well as their respective responsibilities.
Mrs Fati Kine-Lam, the Bono Regional Director of NADMO, asked them to build stronger collaborations and work hard towards disaster management and prevention.
She reminded them that NADMO was a disaster management and not relief organization and urged the coordinators to also intensify community outreach and sensitize the masses about disaster management and prevention.
Mr Joseph Yere, the Bono Regional Mental Health Coordinator, took the participants through some psychological first aid services, taking responsibility and comforting disaster victims.
Some of the coordinators expressed their appreciation and called on the government to provide them with logistics and equipment like computers, furniture, live jackets and motorbikes.
