Mrs Linda Asante Agyei, a Senior Editor of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and the immediate past Vice President of the Ghana Journalists Association, together with her family have called on the management of the GNA to express appreciation for their support during the funeral of their father, of Ex Warrant Officer Class 1 (WO1) Elder Victor Hanson Asante.
The delegation was received by Mr. Albert Kofi Owusu, the General Manager, and Mrs Beatrice Asamani-Savage, the Director of Editorial.


Leading the delegation which included Mr John Asante, and Mrs Dorcas Asante Afari, Mr Michael Asante, the eldest son of Ex WO1 Elder Asante said as custom demands, their visit was to thank management and staff for the support and encouragement accorded them during their period of grief.
“Your support and encouragement have been a source of strength for us, and we are here to say thank you,” he said.


In his remarks, Mr. Albert Owusu thanked the delegation for the gesture and pledged the agency’s continuous support to Mrs. Asante Agyei and her family.


Popularly referred to VH, Ex WO1 Asante worked with the Ghana Airforce, and was the first Ghanaian Instructor of the Ghana Airforce School of Trade Training (S of T.T), now known as Ghana Airforce Aviation College from 1965 to 1970.
He served in different capacities and voluntarily retired after 18 years and 42 days of dedicated service with the Ghana Airforce in 1980.
From the military, VH Asante worked with the Ghana National Procurement Agency as Procurement Officer from 1980 until retiring as the Procurement Manager in 2001. He was 84 years old.
