Christian Council of Ghana condoles with nation on tragic loss of Defence Minister and others

Accra, 7 Aug, GNA – The Christian Council of Ghana has condoled with the government and people of Ghana following the tragic loss of Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah, and seven other individuals.

In a statement signed by Reverend Dr Cyril Fayose, General Secretary, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, the Council expressed its profound sadness over the devastating helicopter crash in which Dr Omane Boamah, Dr Muratala Ibrahim Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and six other people perished.

Others were, Dr Muratala Ibrahim Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed – Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong – Vice Chairman, NDC Mr Samuel Aboagye – Former Parliamentary candidate, Squadron leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Adu Mensah.

They were on the way to Obuasi from Accra when the crash the occured at Adansi Akrofuom in the Ashanti Region.

The statement described the sad event as a “black Wednesday,” a day of national tragedy and deep mourning.

The Council extended its heartfelt sympathies to the Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, President John Mahama, the Armed Forces, the government, Parliament, and the bereaved families and friends of the fallen heroes for this great loss.

“May this never happen again in the history of our dear nation. It is our fervent prayer that the good Lord will grant the souls of these eight compatriots eternal rest,” the statement read.
