Three shot dead in gun battle with Police

Accra, July 22, GNA – Three suspected armed men were shot dead during a gun battle with police at the Tema Industrial Area.

A press release issued by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dede Dzakpasu, Head of the Public Relations Unit of the Tema Regional Police Command, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the incident occurred on July 21, 2025, following a distress call.

“On July 21, 2025, the Command responded to a distress call regarding armed men numbering about ten breaking into a warehouse at the Tema Industrial Area,” it said.

“The police patrol team that responded to the call, confronted the suspects, leading to an exchange of gunfire,” ASP Dzakpasu added.

She said three of the suspects were shot and later pronounced dead, while the remaining individuals, some of whom are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds, fled the scene.

Recovered items included a Bruni Mod foreign pistol, a double-barrelled locally manufactured pistol with two rounds of ammunition, and eleven live BB ammunitions.

ASP Dzakpasu said the bodies had been deposited at the Police Hospital Morgue for identification, preservation, and autopsy.

“We would like to commend officers of the Kpone District Command for the timely response,” she stated, adding that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
