Accra, July 5, GNA – The Ketu Divisional Police have arrested one out of other persons that allegedly killed a taxi driver and dumped him cassava farm in Kato in the Volta Region.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency in Accra the Ketu Police Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Samuel Odame said it was discovered during a night patrol.
He said a National Highway Patrol Team stationed at Dzodze intercepted a Toyota Vitz Car with registration number GN 2586-22 at Lume along the Tadzewu-Akatsi highway, coming from Akatsi direction.
He said whike they were having a routine search, the Driver and three other occupants on board got down from the vehicle and took to their heels.
However, he said upon a chase suspect Korshie Asumali aged 25 years was arrested and together with the vehicle were brought to Dzodze Police Station for interrogation.
“During a search in the vehicle two smart phones, two keypad phones, cash of GHC 114.50, a bunch of keys, three pairs of boxer shorts, an umbrella, two pairs of trousers among others were found in the vehicle”.
He said during Police interrogation, suspect Korshie Asumali, aged confessed that he and the three other suspects now at large hired the taxi, now exhibit, at Sogakope and when they got to a point they strangled the driver to death and threw him into a bush near Sogakope.
He said with that information, Dzodze District Crime Officer, ASP Emmanuel Habada led a team of police officers together with suspect Korshie Asumali to Sogakope, where at a cassava farm in a suburb called Akato, the body of a male adult later identified as Patrick Tetteh aged 26 years was found.
“A critical examination of the body revealed multiple marks of assault.
The body was removed and deposited at Sogakope Government hospital pending post mortem.
Efforts are currently being made to get the accomplices arrested”.
