Korpehem-Ada, July 09, GNA-Dr Michael Naami, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Gifted Ear and Eye Ghana, has urged the public to take good care of their eyes and ears to avoid contracting infections.

Dr Naami, speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of a free health screening exercise for residents of Amlakpo organised by Mr Robert Atitianti, assembly member for the area in collaboration with his outfit, expressed worry at the level of eye and ear infections discovered among the people.

He also expressed concern over the number of young individuals diagnosed with early-stage eye and ear problems without knowing.

He cited exposure to dust from unpaved roads as a major cause of infections affecting both the ear and the eyes.

Dr Naami showed participants how to properly care for their ears and the importance of earwax in protecting the ear, advising them to visit the hospital for the needed care.

He noted that the free eye and ear screening was timely to unearth such infections, disclosing that in one case, a 16-year-old girl was found with a bead lodged in her ear, a situation the patient was unaware of, adding that “We used our camera to locate and safely remove it.”

He added that some individuals who had been previously diagnosed and scheduled for surgery but missed appointments due to financial or psychological barriers had their details taken to benefit from his outfit’s free surgical programme scheduled for September and October this year.

Mr Atitianti, on his part, said he organised the screening as a commitment to improving the health and well-being of residents in his area.

Beneficiaries of the screening expressed gratitude to the assembly member and the medical team for the support and intervention.
