Krachi East MP’s Life-Serving Initiative screens over 2000 for kidney

Dambai (O/R), June 26, GNA- The member of Parliament (MP) for Krachi East constituency, Mr Nelson Kofi Djabab, has organised a free kidney screening exercise for over 2000 people in Dambai.

The free kidney screening exercise, held at the bustling Dambai market square, provides a valuable opportunity for residents to access their kidney health.

The event, which took place on Thursday, June 26, 2025, aimed to promote early detection and prevention of kidney related diseases, which have been on the rise, especially among young people.

The initiative was carried out in collaboration with Rebecca Health Outreach Programme under the Renes Sanae Foundation, in support of the Krachi East Municipal Health Directorate.

The team provided comprehensive medical services including kidney screening, blood sugar level and diabetes testing, hepatitis B, malaria testing, blood pressure and hypertension testing.

In an engagement with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) the MP emphasised the importance of human lives in society and the need for regular medical checks to monitor one’s health.

He revealed that exercise aimed to provide community members with an opportunity to identify their health issues early, receive prompt treatment, and prevent complications.

The Member of Parliament said the screening exercise would also enable constituents to access necessary medical care and treatment, improving their overall health and well-being.

He pledged to organize similar screenings every four months in his constituency to keep the people healthier.

Mr Samuel Berchie, Director of Avmarg Solution and international member of Renes Sanae Foundation, assured that the partnership with Renes Sanae Foundation would continue to benefit residents of Krachi East.

He expressed their commitment to working tirelessly to ensure the people in the area are free from preventable diseases.

Mr Abdul-Muttalib Amin, Krachi East Municipal Director of Health, has commended the MP for the exercise and recounted his donation of some laptops saying it would go a long way to complement their work to provide quality health care service for the people in the area.

He advised the constituents to exercise regularly, watch their diet, and visit the health facilities to have their health concerns addressed.

Madam Josephine Abena Amanquah and other beneficiaries applauded the MP’s efforts, thanking him for the positive impact on their well-being.

The beneficiaries praised the MP for taking the initiative to provide them with access to free kidney screening, which has helped them detect potential health issues early and receive timely treatment.

They acknowledged the positive impact of the MP’s initiative on their lives and promised to continue prioritising their health and well-being.
