Tema, June 18, GNA – The Nutifafafia Hadzihaga of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPCG), Tema Newtown, has celebrated its thirtieth anniversary with a choral concert.
The celebration, which was on the theme “With Harmonious Heart, Sing Praises to God”, was to encourage Christians to use songs as a medium of socialisation and to strengthen bonds with their brethren.
Mr. Benjamin Adjie-Afenu, the host pastor for EPCG, Nutifafafia, said the choral concert was organised as part of their anniversary to evangelise to people through songs.
He said songs are good for the soul, and they enable individuals to reflect on the goodness of God.
Mr. Adjie-Afenu added that Jesus Christ commanded Christians to come together to glorify him through songs of ministration, as stated in Psalms 150:5-6.
He mentioned that it would be selfish of Christians not to preach and evangelise for their brothers to also know God and enjoy all the good promises that come from him.
He said it was on this mandate that EPCG has taken the charge to celebrate their anniversary with people in the community using songs as a medium of evangelism.
Mr. Adjie-Afenu encouraged the choir to continue with their good works of using songs to win souls for Christ.
He also urged them to sing from their hearts and forgive one another so that God would accept their praises.
He encouraged the choir to recruit younger people into the choir to ensure its continuity.
The anniversary brought together over 10 choirs from different congregations and churches.
The EPCG Nutifafafia Hadzihaga Choir began when a small passionate young Christian group decided to sing to glorify God.
The choir has observed different generations since its establishment in 1994.
The choir honoured its founding fathers and mothers, who through their sacrifice trained many young ones to take up the mantle.
They commended the late Mr. Emmanuel Setiatorme, the late Madam Catherine Kueliho; and Madam Roseline Mawuenam Kumasewu for the good seed they sowed.
