Kumasi, Oct. 3, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Mr John Boadu as National Chairman, leading a new team of executives mandated to steer the party’s affairs for four years and spearhead its bid to return to power in 2028.
Mr Boadu, a former General Secretary of the party, succeeds Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, who did not seek re-election.
He polled 2,888 votes at the NPP’s National Executive Conference in Kumasi on Saturday to defeat former Energy Minister Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, who secured 2,408 votes, and former National Chairman Paul Afoko, who obtained 790 votes.
Mr Samuel Kenneth Adolphus Ben Crabbe polled 41 votes.
Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong retained the position of General Secretary with 4,486 votes, ahead of Mr Sylvester Tetteh, who obtained 1,340 votes, Mr Eugene Boakye Antwi with 162 votes and Dr Charles Dwamena with 129 votes.
The National Vice Chairperson positions went to Mr Kojo Fosu Boadu, who polled 3,160 votes; Mr Henry Nana Boakye, 3,061; Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, 2,956; and Mr Nana Akomea, 2,987.
Yaa Amponsah Frimpong polled 1,503 votes, Richard Ahiagba 1,001, Masawudu Osman 890, while the other candidates recorded votes ranging from 51 to 247.
Mr Alfred Kojo Thompson was elected National Treasurer with 2,243 votes, followed by Mr Tahiru Issahaku Moomin with 1,605, Mr Collins Nuamah with 1,582 and Ruka Saida Ahmed with 687.
For the National Organiser position, Mr Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover emerged winner with 2,964 votes, followed by Mr Ali Maiga Halidu with 2,231 votes.
The other candidates were Mr Kwame Amo Prempeh, 445; Mr Emmanuel Korsi Bodja, 145; Mr Seth Agyei Yeboah, 137; Mr Daniel Agyenim Boateng, 105; and Mr Archibald Gamir Korletey, 85.
Mr Abagna Yakubu Fusani won the Youth Organiser position with 1,550 votes, while Mr Clement Opoku Gyamfi polled 631 votes.
The other candidates were Mr Michael Osei Boateng, 78; Ms Vera Oye Bram-Larbi, 44; Mr Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, 46; and Mr Alfred Ababio Kumi, 25.
Ms Mavis Hawa Koomson was elected Women’s Organiser with 782 votes, defeating Ms Safia Mohammed, who obtained 429 votes.
For the National Nasara Organiser position, Mr Mohammed Ali Suraj secured 372 votes, followed by Mr Saalim Mansuru Bamba with 311 and Mr Awal Mohammed with 106 votes.
Mr Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye was also elected Communication Director.
The new executives are expected to provide strategic direction for the party over the next four years, at a time when the NPP is seeking to reorganise its structures and strengthen its base ahead of the 2028 general election.
Their mandate includes rebuilding the party and positioning it to compete for political power in 2028.
