Sefwi-Asawinso (WN/R), Oct. 03, GNA – A newly built hotel, Ritzy Hotel, was on Friday commissioned at Sefwi-Asawinso in the Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region to boost the hospitality sector in the country.
The luxurious facility has 56 rooms, a bar and restaurant, laundry, and conference room, among others.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Pious Ohene Abakah, Chief Executive Officer of the hotel, said the vision was to provide the very best hospitality experience in the Western North Region and beyond, thereby reducing unemployment in the area.
“Today marks a very special moment since Ritzy Hotel represents a dream, hard work, perseverance and above all, the grace of God,” he said.
Mr. Cyril Rollins Abakah, General Manager of the hotel, said the facility was a fulfilment of a long-held vision by Mr. Pious Ohene Abakah, who believed that Asawinso and the Western North Region deserved hospitality of the same standard found in other big cities in the country.
The General Manager explained that Asawinso was the gateway to Sefwi and Western North, the heart of Ghana’s cocoa country where farmers, traders, public servants and visitors passed through the community every day and too often had to travel far to find a place to rest, to meet or to celebrate, and that Ritzy Hotel would serve that purpose.
He was particularly happy about the good number of jobs created for young people from the area and announced local farmers would also benefit since produce would be bought from them.
Mr. Wilbert Petty Brentum, Western North Regional Minister, who graced the occasion, commended management of Ritzy Hotel, saying it had come at the right time and was one of the best things to have happened to the region as far as hospitality was concerned.
“I am extremely happy because it is happening under my tenure and I wish to see more of this,” he said.
Mr. Michael Kpingbi, Western North Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, in a message, commended management of Ritzy Hotel for investing in such a luxurious edifice in the Region, saying it had come at the right time when high-spending visitors were finding their way to the region.
The hotel, according to the Regional Director, provided answers to the frequently asked question: Any luxurious hotel in Western North Region? It had the potential to be rated a three-star hotel to be rated in the region and therefore a potential game changer.
“It has the facilities that can attract high-earning guests as well as people with taste for class and luxury and located in a strategic location within the Sefwi-Wiawso Municipality,” he said.
He further encouraged management to ensure constant training for staff to provide service par excellence to complement the facilities available.
“Particular attention should be paid to cleanliness, which is considered as a primary factor influencing guests’ experience and service quality, particularly staff responsiveness and professionalism,” he emphasized.
He said the GTA as a statutory body would continue to provide extension services to tourism plant operators and investors within the tourism and hospitality sector to ensure compliance and improvement of their facilities and operations and encouraged management of Ritzy Hotel to call on the office whenever they needed advice and guidance to achieve their dream star rating.
Nana Ama Kyini II, Queen mother of Asawinso, on behalf of the traditional authorities, commended the CEO for the honour done them and called on other investors to come and invest in the community.
