Kumasi, Oct. 04, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Mr John Boadu as its National Chairman, with Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong retaining his position as General Secretary.
The election took place during the party’s National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Mr Boadu polled 2,888 votes to secure the chairmanship, defeating Mr Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, who obtained 2,408 votes.
Former National Chairman Paul Afoko secured 790 votes, while Mr Samuel Kenneth Adolphus Ben Crabbe polled 41 votes.
The election, which lasted nearly 20 hours, included constitutional amendments and the election of national officers to lead the party for a four-year term.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Boadu called for unity and extended a hand of fellowship to his fellow contestants.
He said the ideas, experience, networks, and commitments of all candidates were vital to strengthening the party.
“There must be no winners and losers, only one united NPP around one purpose,” he said.
Mr Boadu stated that the new leadership would focus on rebuilding the party from the grassroots, strengthening constituency structures, and adapting to changing political and social conditions.
“We are going to build a renewed NPP that listens more, consults more, organises better, and prepares deliberately for the future,” he declared.
He pledged to collaborate with regional executives, Members of Parliament, the Minority Caucus, party patrons, and other organised groups.
Mr Boadu promised greater engagement with young people, social media practitioners, and traditional media, noting that a modern political organisation must communicate responsibly.
He added that the party would strengthen its financial foundation, particularly at the constituency level, while engaging businesses to advance enterprise-friendly policies.
“Political victory is never an entitlement. It is earned through service, organisation, credibility, and the trust of the Ghanaian people. That is why our work begins now,” he noted.
In other executive contests, Mr Kojo Fosu Boadu emerged First Vice Chairman with 3,160 votes.
Mr Henry Nana Boakye followed with 3,061 votes, while Mr Nana Akomea secured 2,987 votes.

Mr Mohammed Ali Suraj won the National Nasara Organiser position with 372 votes, while Mr Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye was declared National Communications Director unopposed.
The new executive committee assumes leadership as the NPP begins preparations for the 2028 General Election.
Mr Boadu urged party members to prioritise the collective interest of the party over personal ambitions.
“Let us choose unity over division, service over personal ambition, organisation over disorder, and hope over despair,” he emphasised.
