Bibiani (WN/R), June 18, GNA – Mr Sebastian Obeng, the Bibiani Anhwaiso Bekwai Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has called on stakeholders to support the “Tree for Life” initiative to revitalise the green environment in the municipality.
He stated that trees were the backbone of the ecosystem, providing oxygen, shade, and habitat for countless species, including humans.
“By planting and nurturing trees, we can improve upon air quality, prevent soil erosion, and support biodiversity,” he said.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview, Mr Obeng said the “ Tree for Life” initiative recognised the crucial role trees played in sustaining life on earth, adding that the municipality would plant thousands of trees, engage communities in tree care, and promote environmental stewardship.
The MCE said: “By supporting the “Tree for Life” initiative, stakeholders could contribute to a healthier environment, improve upon public health, economic benefits to boost the local livelihoods, and a more sustainable future for the municipality.”
Mr Obeng said the success of the initiative would depend on the collective efforts of the communities, local businesses, and government agencies.
