Sefwi-Anyinabrim (WN/R), June 16, GNA-The Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organization (ADDRO), a faith-based non-governmental governmental organization (NGO), has extended its Early Childhood Development Programme to 12 new communities in the Wiawso Municipality of the Western North Region.

The programme, dubbed: “Moments That Matter (MTM)”, was extended to these areas after a successful pilot in nine communities in 2023.

The MTM, being funded by the Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD), USA, is aimed at promoting and nurturing responsive care and early learning activities among caregivers and their children between zero to three years.

It is focused on four key components for a child’s development, namely; physical, social and emotional, thinking, and communication.

The MTM also sought to empower caregivers economically through its Savings with Education (SwE) and skills training to help the caregivers meet the needs of their children and others within the various communities to enable them to reach their full potential.

Mr Michael Arthur, ADDRO Western North Regional Project Officer, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) explained that the Wiawso office of the Organisation had trained 24 volunteers from the 12 communities to work as Early Childhood Development Promoters in those areas.

They are to promote nurturing care through monthly home visits and hold caregivers’ support and learning group meetings.

The ADDRO Regional Project Officer encouraged the major stakeholders in the beneficiary communities to do effective collaborative work to contribute to achieving the goals of the project.

Mr Arthur advised caregivers in the beneficiary communities to participate in the MTM programme to improve their livelihoods and while practising positive parenting and stimulating interactive activities with their children to enable them grow and develop better for the future.

Mr Clement Benteh, an Early Childhood Development Committee Member, and Assembly Member for the Ahokwa Electoral Area, on behalf of the participants lauded the

programme, and said the project had exposed them to how best to nurture and educate children to become successful individuals in future.

He applauded ADDRO and its partners for their continuous support, especially in rural hinterland communities, and promised to ensure the success of the project in his electoral area.
