Ada, Aug. 03, GNA – The Dornukie Foundation has donated assorted items and undisclosed sums of money to Jetse Abram Kabu Akuaku III, the Paramount Chief of the Ada Traditional Area, and selected security agencies ahead of the 89th Ada Asafotufiami Festival.
The festival is scheduled to take place from August 6 to August 14, 2026.
The donation formed part of the foundation’s contribution towards the successful organisation of the annual festival, which attracts thousands of visitors, dignitaries and tourists from across Ghana and beyond.
Beneficiaries included Naana Kabukuor Dagojo Dumale I, Paramount Queen Mother of the Ada Traditional Area; the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS); the Ghana Police Service; and the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) in Ada.
The items presented comprised bottled water, assorted soft drinks, biscuits, among others, in addition to undisclosed cash donations to support the beneficiaries during the festive period.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam Dornukie Naa Norteye, the Chief Executive Officer of the Dornukie Foundation, said the gesture was in fulfilment of the foundation’s commitment to promoting community development and supporting institutions that play vital roles in the success of major traditional events.
Madam Norteye explained that the Paramount Chief and the Paramount Queen Mother were expected to receive numerous guests throughout the festival, making it necessary to support them with items that would aid in hosting visitors.
She said the foundation also recognised the enormous responsibility placed on the security services during the festival, noting that officers would be working long hours to maintain peace, public safety and order.
“The security services need to be empowered during times like this to boost their energy and enable them to work more efficiently throughout the celebration,” she stated.
She reaffirmed her outfit’s commitment to supporting humanitarian causes and community development initiatives, especially activities that promote peace, culture and social cohesion.
Mr Thomas Ayornu, the Operations Officer of the GNFS in Ada; Mr Kwaku Twumasi-Ankrah, Chief Assistant Commissioner of the Ghana Immigration Service, Ada; and Chief Superintendent of Police Lovelace Kofi Glago, Ada District Police Commander, receiving the items on behalf of their respective services, thanked the foundation and pledged maximum security and safety during the festival.
Naana Kabukuor Dagojo Dumale I, also a recipient, commended the organisation for remembering the traditional authorities and security institutions, while appealing to residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly and abide by the laws of the country.
“Life still continues after the festival, so do not do anything that will put you in trouble,” she advised.
The Ada Asafotufiami Festival is one of Ghana’s renowned traditional festivals, celebrated annually by the chiefs and people of Ada to commemorate the victories of their forebears in historic wars while promoting peace, unity, culture and development.
