Tema, May 01, GNA – The Ghana Federation of Labour (GFL) has charged workers and trades unions in the public sector to be vigilant to identify and expose rot in the system.
Mr Abraham Koomson, the General Secretary of the GFL, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Workers Day, said, the workers and trade unions in public sector establishments ought to be vigilant to expose crimes.
Mr Koomson stressed that the economy would not improve for development if workers condoned crimes committed at the workplace.
He further said that public sector establishments have been mismanaged to the detriment of employees and the state, which is why the GFL supports the government’s decision to involve private investors.
Touching on other national issues, he called on the government to do well to prosecute the people implicated in any criminal act by Operation Recover All Looted Assets (ORAL).
The GFL general secretary added that investigating the reports of the ORAL and prosecuting those found liable should not take long to serve as a deterrent and bring hope to the people.
He further called for thorough investigations into the alleged disappearing of over 1,300 containers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) from the Tema Port and the prosecution of the culprits.
“There is an absolute need for Fast Track High Courts and Tribunals to be established to expressly deal with the nation wreckers,” he stressed.
The commemoration of the 2025 May Day celebration was on the broader theme, “Resetting Pay and Working Conditions in Ghana: The Role of Stakeholders”.
