Sekondi (W/R), April 07, GNA – The Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), a consultancy firm, has handed over a site for work to commence on the rehabilitation of a three-unit office complex for the Western Regional office of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Sekondi.

The project, with auxiliary facilities including washrooms, would be undertaken by Brison Construction, with funding from the Social Investment Fund (SIF).

It is expected to begin in two weeks and would be completed in six months.

Mr Eric Annan, Regional Consultant, AESL, speaking during the site handing over, asked the contractor to deliver according to specifications, and meet set deadlines as contained in the contract documents.

He said: “The contractors have 14 days to mobilise and move to the site to start work on the project, and we expect them to deliver according to our specifications and timelines.

“This is not the usual project where contractors delay, because for this one, we have to be giving at least weekly updates to the agency that is funding it, so the moment you delay, they will surcharge you.”

Mrs Justina Paaga, the Western Regional Manager of the GNA, said the project when completed would provide a safe working environment for staff to deliver on their mandates by providing accurate and unbiased news stories for nation building.

She, thus, asked the contractor to deliver a quality job to help guarantee the longevity of the office, upon completion.

Madam Ann Dodoo, Operations personnel at Brison Construction, pledged their commitment to deliver quality job, and work to meet the specified deadlines.

The rehabilitation of the office complex is under a Post COVID-19 Skills Development and Productivity Enhancement Programme (PSDPEP), a five-year initiative, of which the GNA is part of other organisations as beneficiaries.

The programme is being funded from a grant facility of $31.34 million, which comprises $28.5 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB), and $2.8 million from the Ghana Government.
