Tamale, May 24, GNA – The Today for Tomorrow Fund (TFT) has inaugurated two refurbished classroom blocks at Sakasaka, a suburb of Tamale, in a bid to improve educational infrastructure in the Northern Region.

The facilities included a four-classroom block, furnished with set dual desks and marker boards with a teachers’ office for the Sakasaka Junior High School and an additional three-classroom block for the kindergarten section, also furnished with tables and chairs and marker boards at Sakasaka M/A Primary School ‘D’.

The intervention sought to address pressing infrastructural challenges at both schools, which saw the Sakasaka JHS operating in makeshift structures after a fire destroyed its original classroom block while the kindergarten block had become severely dilapidated and unfit for use compromising early childhood education in the area.

The project was implemented in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service and funded by Moolre Limited and Millennial Assets and Properties Limited, whose contributions were instrumental in bringing the initiative to fruition.

The handing over ceremony was attended by Mr Seid Mubarak, Member of Parliament for Sunyani East Constituency, Alhaji Abubakari Adam Takoro, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive, Directors of TFT and other stakeholders from education.

Mr Sephania Koutanyi, Director of TFT, speaking during the handing over ceremony, said the classroom blocks represented more than just physical infrastructure, adding they symbolised hope and a shared commitment to nurturing the next generation.

He said “This initiative is more than just bricks and mortar. It is about creating spaces that inspire learning and growth. These refurbished classroom blocks demonstrate our commitment to building a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive through education.”

Mr Koutanyi said as part of TFT’s broader agenda, plans were underway to establish three new ICT centres in the Volta and Bono Regions later this year with the aim to empower communities through education and technology.

Mr Seid Mubarak, Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, emphasised the critical role of parents and teachers in ensuring the success of such initiatives.

He said, “We must continue to work together to provide our children with the quality education they deserve.”

Alhaji Abubakari Adam Takoro, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive pledged the full support of the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly in maintaining the new school facilities.

He noted that the sustainability of infrastructure investments was a collective responsibility.
