Paga (U/E), May 09, GNA – Paga Youth Movement, a non-partisan development-oriented youth movement in Kassena-Nankana West District, has donated two air conditioners and 10 rechargeable touch lights to the 11 Mechanized Forward Operating Base (FOB) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in Paga in the Upper East Region.
The donation was a gesture of appreciation and support for the military’s continuous efforts to reduce crime rates and maintain peace and security in the area.
Speaking at a brief ceremony held at the military barracks in Paga, Mr. Wenawome Aborah, Chairman of the Paga Youth Movement, praised the military for their commitment in safeguarding lives and property of residents.
He emphasized that the donation, though modest, was a sincere expression of gratitude from the youth for the soldiers’ tireless efforts.
“Sometimes it’s not the volume, but the intent that matters. We know the challenges you face daily, and we want you to know that we see your work and we appreciate it. Whenever you call on us, we will respond. We are one community, one family, and your safety are our safety,” Mr. Aborah stated.
He, however, expressed concern about the decline in visibility patrols in recent weeks and called for continued collaboration between the military and the community.
“Let us work together to keep this place safe. If there are challenges, please let us know how we can support,” he added.

Lieutenant Colonel Kakra Sasu Antwi, Commander Rear of the 11 Mechanized Battalion, who received the donation on behalf of FOB, expressed appreciation to the Paga Youth Movement for the timely support.
He noted that such gestures were rare and deeply valued by the military.
“I’ve served in the north since 2008, and I can say that gestures like this are uncommon. This donation is not just material, it is a strong morale booster,” Lt. Col. Antwi said.
He assured the community that despite logistical challenges, including delays in vehicle repairs which have resulted in the decline in visibility patrols as noted by the youth, the military would continue to prioritize patrols and maintain a strong presence in the area.
“We will be visible again because the repair of our vehicle is almost done and will be on the road again. Our mission is to serve, and we are committed to doing just that,” he said.
He highlighted the importance of community collaboration in national security, especially in the fight against terrorism, adding that “If you see anything unusual, talk to us. It is your vigilance that helps us keep this community safe,” he added.
Lt. Col. Antwi also disclosed that efforts were underway to restore broken-down military vehicles, with maintenance personnel coming from Tamale in the Northern Region to assess them soon.
The Paga FOB is a key installation under the 11 Mechanized Battalion of the GAF tasked with border security and anti-terrorism operations in the northern frontier of Ghana.
