Kasoa (C/R), May 22, GNA – A newly built clinic has been commissioned at Obrachire, a community in the Awutu Senya West District, to aid quality healthcare in the Area.
The facility, funded by Qatar Charity of the State of Qatar, was made possible through the efforts of Mrs Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Constituency.
With a population of about 5,000, the community previously relied on a Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) Compound for healthcare, but some residents complained that maternal health, was challenging especially at night.
The MP stated that the growing population demanded improved healthcare services and facilities, hence the goal was to build a robust health infrastructure system across the district.
Mrs Tetteh-Agbotui added that some existing health facilities had already been renovated to meet acceptable standards, all to provide quality healthcare.
She outlined further plans to construct a new facility at Akrampah, renovate additional CHPS compounds, and ensure every clinic was equipped with a Child Welfare Centre and staff accommodation.
She urged residents to prioritise their health through regular check-ups and encouraged them to protect and maintain the facility, so it served its intended purpose.
A representative from Qatar Charity said the clinic had an Outpatients Department (OPD), male and female wards, a delivery ward, and accommodation for staff.
She called on community members to contribute their quota towards the maintenance and sustainability of the facility.
