WAEC withholds results of nine BECE private candidates over suspected collusion

Accra, Aug. 9, GNA – The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld the results of nine candidates who sat the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates.

A statement issued and signed by Mr John K. Kapi, Head of Public Affairs at WAEC, said the results were withheld for further scrutiny following suspected collusion detected during the marking exercise.

It said candidates whose results had been withheld should visit irreg.waec.org and click on the “withheld/cancelled” button on the home page.

“They will be directed to the irregularity and investigations page. This page will display reasons for withholding the results. The candidates will receive information on the next line of action.”

On the provisional results, WAEC said they were available on the Council’s official website, www.waecgh.org, for candidates who wished to access them online.

A total of 2,987 candidates, comprising 1,618 males and 1,369 females from all regions of the country, entered for the private examination.

The examination was conducted at centres in selected regional capitals across the country.

Of the total number of candidates, 101 were absent.
