It is also to allow individuals to seek redress and strengthen bonds within the community.

The programme, which was a community Wellness drive activity, attracted 700 residents including, church members taking advantage of the opportunity to address their health concerns.

Medical experts on-site from Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH), offered a range of screenings, including Eye screening, Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) screening, Blood pressure, Body mass index, diabetes Mellitus and Hepatitis B and C among others.

Madam Sheila Puotege, a Principal Midwifery Officer at the TTH and the Chairperson of the medical committee threw more light on the need for periodic medical checkups to be “in control of your own health”

She explained that the health screening was organized to improve the lives of the needy and less privileged members of society and, the exercise was targeted at providing an opportunity for people, especially those who could not afford frequent medical check-ups due to official duties and also financial constraints to have access to medical care.

According to her, it was also to identify medical conditions or risk factors at an early stage when they may be more manageable or treatable.

Madam Puotege added that early detection could improve treatment outcomes and safe life and regular health screenings were a key component of preventive healthcare, as they served as proactive measures to prevent the onset of diseases through lifestyle changes or interventions.

She advised patrons to pay more critical attention to their health by attending regular check-ups to know their health status.

Dr. Raymond Aduku, the President of the CATHPROG emphasised the need for them to give back to society and foster socialisation through such activities.

He appealed to Ghanaians to make time for healthy activities regularly to maintain good health as regular check-ups prevented complications, reduced medical costs, and empowered individuals to make informed decisions on their health.

He noted that “Blessed Sacrament Chapel is a health professional dominated family that aims at bringing health care to the doorsteps of parishioners and the community we find ourselves., It was behind this motive that the just the medical screening was organized”
