Bolgatanga, April 30, GNA – Scores of nurses and midwives in the Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East Region, have taken to social media to celebrate Ms Charity Ayinga Abusambire, a Senior Staff Nurse for emerging as the Municipal Best Nurse for 2025.
Her colleagues eulogized and congratulated her for her hard work and perseverance, saying “Your hard work and perseverance have paid off.”
The GRNMA members indicated that they were proud of Ms Abusambire, and noted that she deserved the recognition, owing to her dedication to work and willingness to always take up challenging roles.
“Accept my congratulations. Wishing you the best of luck as you soar up,” Mr Richard Addah, a Neonatal Nurse and one-time National Second Runner-up Best Nurse wrote.
Mr Mohammed Dokurugu, the Bolgatanga Municipal Chairman of the GRNMA, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said Ms Abusambire undertook a project some few years ago, which sought to support mothers, adolescents, pregnant women and their families.
He explained that even though 2025 had not ended, the Association selected and awarded deserving members at the Municipal and District levels within the year, in preparation for the National Best Nurse or Midwife award.
He said members who emerged as Municipal and District Best Nurses or Midwives would compete for the regional award and subsequently contest for the National award in December 2025.
Mr Dokurugu disclosed that four GRNMA members filed their project works for the award, and after a rigorous process of vetting and interviewing the competitors, the awardee emerged best and congratulated her for the achievement.
Ms Abusambire, who is stationed at the Boglingo Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound under the Sherigu Sub-Municipality, in a statement, said “I am truly delighted and grateful for this recognition’.
She expressed gratitude to God for the strength and wisdom to undertake her projects and thanked the Municipal leadership of the GRNMA for the support and guidance.
Ms Abusambire further acknowledged and expressed appreciation to Mr Stephen Bordotsiah, the Bolgatanga Municipal Director of the Ghana Health Service and his staff at the Directorate for their words of encouragement.
“To everyone who supported me in my line of work, I am truly grateful and will continue to do my best always,” Ms Abusambire said.
