Western Region gets 32-year-old as representative for Council of State

Sekondi (W/R), Feb. 11, GNA – Dr Maxwell Boakye, a 32-year-old Entrepreneur, from the Wassa Amenfi West District, has been elected as the Western Regional Representative to the Council of State.

He polled 17 out of the 28 total valid votes cast to beat his close contender, Nana Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah, a 74-year-old Business Executive, who garnered 10 votes.

Mr Clement Adjei, a 55-year-old businessperson, polled only one vote while the remaining six candidates had zero each.

The total votes cast was 28 out of an expected 28 with no rejected or spoilt ballots.

Dr Boakye, speaking to journalists after the declaration, thanked the delegates for endorsing him to represent the Western Region on the Council of State.

He pledged his commitment to serve with humility and integrity to ensure the Region received its fair share of development projects.

The Council of State is an advisory institution to the President, Parliament, Ministers of State, and other state agencies to ensure good, inclusive, and accountable governance.

In all nine people contested the election.
