Sefwi-Wiawso (WN/R), Feb. 14, GNA – The Western North Regional branch of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has celebrated this year’s National Chocolate Day with patients at the Paediatric unit of the Wiawso Government hospital to put smiles on the faces of children admitted at the facility.
Each child on admission at the hospital was given bars of chocolates and toffees made with cocoa.

Nurses at the facility including other staff were not left out.
Mr Michael Kpingbi, Western North Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority after the donation said the move aligned with this year’s Valentine’s Day celebrated every February 14th.

The celebration according to him, was introduced amongst others to give valentine’s day a healthy orientation and promote Ghana’s Chocolate and cocoa products which resonate with the national heritage and pride.
“This initiative falls in line with the Authority’s marketing campaigns to boost domestic tourism with emphasis on local contents which encourages Ghanaians to consume made in Ghana products (EAT GHANA)
As part of the celebration, he explained the regional office choose to celebrate with the Paediatric ward of the hospital to show care and love towards the children on admission to put smiles on their faces.
The Regional Director used the opportunity to encourage Ghanaians especially the youth to show love and care during such a season by engaging in healthy lifestyles to protect their future.
Lucy Nkansah Boateng,a Paediatric nurse in charge of the ward lauded the Ghana Tourism Authority for their thoughtfulness in showing love to the kids and the facility in general and appealed to the authority to keep visiting them with such gifts.

She also advised parents to inculcate the habit of eating chocolate in their children since the nutritional value in chocolate would help kids to grow well.
Some parents whose children were on admission at the ward also commended the Ghana Tourism Authority for showing love to their kids and appealed to other institutions to emulate.
