All is set for the commencement of maiden regional Minister’s Cup

Adaklu (VR), Feb. 14, GNA – The much more anticipated and awaited maiden edition of the Volta Regional Ministers’ cup football tournament is about to kick start at the Adaklu Youth Resource Centre.

The tournament, which was organised by Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, was expected to bring youth teams from all the 18 constituencies in the region, was aimed at fostering unity, togetherness and strong collaboration among sports men.

Ghana News Agency (GNA) observed that the football pitch, the goal and corner poll among other important arrangement were properly in place for the coveted Minister’s Cup.

Security personnel, which include the police, fire service, Red Cross, ambulance service, and other internal security personnel, were also around for a successful tournament.

Coaches from various teams, players and other team official, referees, match commissioners, as well as football fans were present in their numbers to support to their various teams for victory and ensure a smooth and successful tournament that would create sportsmanship among players and coaches.

Mr Daniel Agboga, the Volta Regional Football Association Chairman, in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency, expressed excitement about the preparation and hope for a successful game.

“I am impressed with the preparations so far, I wish all the teams the best of luck, and most impotently I want all players and officials to comport themselves during and after the games,” he said.

The first game in group A is expected to be played between Team Southern A constituency and Team Hohoe/Afadjato constituency.

Other fixtures are Team Southern B constituency versus Team Tongu constituency in group A.

Group B matches are Team Kpetoe-Ziope/Adaklu constituency -Team Kpando constituency and Team Dayi constituency-Team Ho constituency.

It was clear that the winners of each game would progress to the next stage whilst the losers would be eliminated since the game would be played on knockout basis.

Some players and coaches GNA engaged were optimistic and hopeful that they would emerge as winners of the first edition of the tournament.
