Volta GTA extends civic responsibility to patients and market folks on Chocolate Day

Ho, Feb 15, GNA – The Volta Regional Directorate of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has extended its corporate social and civic responsibility to citizens in the regional capital, Ho. 

The benevolence took the team to the Ho Central Market, the Ho Teaching and Municipal Hospital to touch the hearts of citizens to mark the 2025 National Chocolate Day activities, which doubles as Saint Valentine’s Day. 

Mr Johnny Authur-Quarm, Regional Director of GTA said the visitation marks the National Chocolate Day celebration and to show affection to citizens. 

The Authority decided to mark the 2025 National Chocolate Day in the Region with children at the Pediatric Unit to show them love despite their conditions. 

In an interview, he said the road network to some tourist attractions needed to be rehabilitated and in certain instances reconstructed to boost tourism in the Region. 

He said the enhancement in the network would increase the number of tourists to the various sites in the Volta Region. 

Dr John Tampuori, Chief Executive of the Ho Teaching Hospital commended GTA and partner for their civic responsibility saying, “it is a great pleasure to receive such a donation on the day of joy and love.” 

He said the effects of such gestures on the health of patients could not be underrated, especially the sharing of chocolates that enhanced to alleviate pains. 

Dr Selorm Tsrakasu, Head, Paediatric Unit of HTH, “We are excited to receive special items on a special day, a day of love and kindness.” 

“The gesture alone showed that the community cared about the work we were doing taking care of children. Chocolate was an important ingredient in our diet because it improves immunity and boosts happiness and joy. We are grateful to the GTA for the gesture.” 

Madam Vida Nkpenntey Onai, Supervisor, Frankdoful Car Hire Purchase Agency, a private transport operator said her Company decided to partner GTA to share love to Ghanaians especially children during this year’s National Chocolate Day. 

She disclosed they would continue to share and help humanity as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility on special occasions and appealed to parents of special needs to give their wards the maximum care and nurture them properly. 

Patients and market folks expressed joy at the benevolence of GTA and partner for remembering them on a special day.
