Tema, Feb 4, GNA – The Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG) has expressed confidence in the ministers of Finance, and Trade, Agribusines, and Industry to drive Ghana’s trade and maritime industry to greater heights.

A press statement signed by Mr. Samson Asaki Awingobit, the Executive Secretary, congratulated the ministers Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the Minister of Finance, and Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.

“Dr. Forson’s extensive experience in fiscal policy and economic management, coupled with Ofosu-Adjare’s dedication to empowering businesses, particularly women-led enterprises, positions made them exemplary leaders for their respective ministries.”

The IEAG said it was prepared to collaborate with both ministers to achieve their goals and targets for the trade and maritime sectors, expressing the belief that through effective partnership, they could collectively enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of Ghana’s import and export landscape.

The association urged the ministers to address the persistent challenges that importers and exporters faced during the previous administration, which included bureaucratic bottlenecks, high tariffs, and infrastructural deficits.

“We trust that under the leadership of Dr. Forson and Ofosu-Adjare, these concerns will be prioritised and effectively resolved.”

The IEAG indicated that the trade minister’s emphasis on gender equality and the proposed mentorship programmes for young women entrepreneurs aligned with their vision of an inclusive and thriving trade environment.

It added that the association remained steadfast in its mission to support and advocate the interests of Ghanaian traders, and therefore looked forward to a fruitful collaboration with the new ministers to foster a conducive environment for trade and industry, ultimately contributing to the nation’s economic prosperity.
