Kumasi, Jan. 10, GNA – The Council of Ewe Chiefs in the Ashanti, Ahafo and Bono Regions has lauded Ghanaians for demonstrating a sense of maturity in the December 2024 general elections.

It said the resilience of the people in upholding democratic principles was laudable and stressed the need for continuous peace and unity among all the people in the country.

“Whilst congratulating President John Dramani Mahama on the historic feat chalked in the polls, we are also impressed with the general conduct of the people that has further enhanced our reputation within the international community,” Torgbiga Mawufeame Fugah, President of the Council, said in a new year’s message issued in Kumasi.

The message encouraged Ghanaians to be optimistic, calling on the citizenry to see 2025 as a year of hope and possibilities.

“In whatever we do, we should not be discouraged, but work assiduously to overcome our challenges,” Torgbiga Fugah said.

The message commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for embracing the Ewe community, especially in the Ashanti region, saying, Manhyia Palace’s continuous support had been very beneficial to Ewes.

The Council further lauded Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang for being elected as Ghana’s first female Vice President.

It asked the people to be disciplined and law-abiding, urging them to always cherish peaceful co-existence.
