Accra, Jan. 22, GNA – The fourth edition of the Ghana Water Polo (GWP) ended successfully at the University of Ghana on last weekend.
About one hundred swimmers from Central, Greater Accra and Ashanti Region took part in this year’s competition.
Among the clubs which participated were, Awutu B, Lake Bosomtwe, Accra Art Centre, KNUST, Habawaba Team, Lake Ladies, Awutu Ladies, All Stars White team and All Stars Black Team.
In an interview with GNA Sports, Mr. Prince Kofi Asante Safe-Boakye said the attendance was encouraging as compared to the previous years.
He said, “we are giving more opportunities to Black Swimmers and our target is to get swimmers to represent Ghana for both local and international competitions.
“We are also aimed to get athletes to represent our country for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United Staes of America (USA).”
He said the athletes were committed and serious about the sport.
He also expressed his profound gratitude to the officials from the USA who came to Ghana to support him.
