Sunyani, Bono, Jan. 21, GNA – Mr Daniel Kwasi Borsah, the Bono Regional Director of the Department of Parks and Gardens, has called on the government to employ more field personnel to enable the Department to fulfil its mandate.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Borsah expressed worry about inadequate personnel of the Department in the region, saying 52 staff of the Department went on retirement between 2012 and 2024 however no replacement had been done since then.
He said the shortage of personnel remained a huge challenge in executing the mandate of the Department regretting that the department had only two field personnel now.
The Department also more than 20 new personnel, he stated, saying if employment was not made, the department would collapsed.
Mr Borsah said field personnel were required for mowing, pruning, weeding grassing, sweeping and reshaping of lawns, and also called on the government to provide logistics for field work.
He said it was now difficult for the department to clean and put government bungalows and other public places in good shape due to lack of logistics.
He said the department had only two trimmer machines and its mowers had broken down.
