Accra, Oct. 07, GNA — The African University of Communications and Business (AUCB) has approved the records of 75 students who have satisfied the academic and financial requirements for graduation, following an emergency meeting of its Academic Board on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

The development follows concerns raised by some students over delays in the processing of their University of Ghana (UG) certificates and other academic matters.

According to a document issued by the AUCB Academic Registry and dated October 6, sighted by the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the Academic Board approved recommendations concerning students whose records had been forwarded to the University of Ghana for the processing of their certificates.

The document stated that the students had satisfied all requirements, including academic and financial obligations, for graduation.

It explained that the University of Ghana will determine the Grade Point Average (FGPA) and degree classifications of the students.

The list, which covers various programmes including Development Communication, Human Resource Management, Journalism, Marketing, Strategic Communication and Visual and Digital Communications, contains 75 students.

AUCB, however, indicated that students who preferred to graduate with an AUCB certificate rather than a UG certificate were required to personally apply to the registrar of the university through the Academic Registry by Friday, October 9, 2026.

The university said the name of any student who opted for an AUCB certificate would subsequently be deleted from the list forwarded to the University of Ghana, with the university notified accordingly.

The Academic Registry also directed students to check the spelling and arrangement of their names on the list and report any errors by Friday, October 9.

The latest development provides a formal update to the certificate dispute involving some AUCB students, who had earlier expressed frustration over delays associated with their graduation documentation and threatened legal action.

The students’ concerns had centred, among other things, on the processing of their University of Ghana certificates following their studies at AUCB.

The latest AUCB document, signed by Mr Emmanuel Dugbenoo, Director of Academic Affairs, for the AUCB Council Secretary, indicates that the affected students’ records have now entered the formal graduation processing stage at the University of Ghana.
