Oti Transiton: Security beefed up at ORCC as youth barricade public institutions

By Kingsley Mamore

Dambai (O/R), Dec 20, GNA – The Oti Regional Coordinating Council (ORCC) has stationed security officers at strategic locations to prevent any disturbances, following reports of some youth barricading of public institutions in response to the change in government.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) sighted heavy security presence at the ORCC and Krachi East Municipal Assembly, to avert potential post-election violence.

The move is part of a broader effort to maintain peace and stability in the region after the December 7 polls.

Mr Prince Latif Oyekunle, an Assistant Director, ORCC, said some of the youths had taken the law into their own hands, barricading public institutions without justification.

The development prompted the Council to take proactive measures to maintain peace and order in the region.

He assured members of the public that the situation was under control and that measures were in place to prevent any further disturbances.

He urged them to remain calm and go about their daily activities without fear as measures have been put in place.

Mr Oyekunle highlighted the need for continued education and awareness on the importance of peaceful transitions and the rule of law, particularly among the youth.

A section of the public welcomed the heavy security presence to maintain law and order, expressing relief that the elections were held peacefully.
